The Church of the Abbot Saint Anthony (see picture).
OUTSIDE:
The complex, which includes the former Benedictine monastery, was built outside the city walls and is certainly of ancient origins although it was rebuilt between the end of the XIV and the XV centuries. Today it conserves only part of the original building and was modified after restoration in 1707 subsequent to damage caused by an earthquake in 1703.
INSIDE:
The elements of great interest inside the Church are certainly the two series of frescos in the presbytery and in the nuns' ex-choir-stall. The first group of frescos, "Evangelists", in the vault, and "Stories of the life of Abbot St. Anthony" on the walls is attributed to the Maestro Dormitio of Terni, an unknown Umbrian of the XV century; the second group consists of "Stories of Christ" and belongs to Nicola da Siena, 1461, who left his most committed work in this Church. Artistic objects taken from nearby Churches and monasteries can be seen in the Church and in the sacristy; among the works kept here, it is worth seeing the canvas of the XVI century "Christ carrying the cross appearing to Saint Theresa" by Annibale Carracci.
